Monitoring
The goal of monitoring the Chippewa and its tributaries is to: document baseline conditions of the river, identify water quality issues, help direct conservation efforts most efficiently, and to make data available to the general public.

The CRWP staff collects a large amount of both water quality and water quantity data. The monitoring season is from April 1 through September 30. During this time, data loggers are installed to take continuous flow measurements at six primary monitoring stations. Water samples are taken during high and low flow conditions and analyzed at a state certified lab for nitrite-nitrate nitrogen, total phosphorus, orthophosphorus, total suspended solids, turbidity and e-coli bacteria.Chippewa River Watershed map with sub-basins and monitoring sites highlighted
