The East Branch Chippewa River sub-basin received Federal 319 Funding in 2002 and began the Continuation phase in 2006. Incentive payments and cost-sharing is available. Primary targets are added bonuses for buffer strip installment, shoreline restoration/naturalization projects, offering cost share for fencing and alternative water systems in livestock exclusion projects, and other special projects needed by the residents of the East Branch Chippewa River to create a healthier watershed. The Local Work Group meets monthly to propose, rank and fund water quality and quantity improvement projects.
